MARY MALANEY
Mary Malaney was born in Michigan to a performing mother and a dad who had no idea what he was in for. From an early age, she showed a great interest in all things theater and music. Her debut onstage was with the Michigan Opera Theater's children's chorus in the opera Turandot. She performed with the chorus in at least six other productions, including Werther with the Italian pop singer Andrea Bocelli and opera star Denyce Graves.
She left the world of opera in seventh grade when she had her first musical theater role, playing the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz. After that, she was completely hooked. She participated in theater at her high school for all four years, as well as local community theaters, was a National competitor in the Dramatic Category for the Catholic Forensics, spent three years with her high school's mime troupe, and was elected president of her school's International Thespian Society.
After spending her childhood immersed in the arts, Mary had no other major of interest except musical theater. She was fortunate enough to be accepted at Ithaca College and spent the next four years exploring, learning, and growing as an artist. At Ithaca, she developed into a much more physical actor and found a love for plays as well as musicals. She now resides in NYC with her silly wiener dog, Burt the Flirt.
